Cafe Anor & Ringo (formerly the Glock), aka my new favorite place I had their clam spaghetti and found it to be transcendent - somehow subtle and yet featuring every bold flavor possible from dry chili to ginger to crunchy onion to soy and of course clams. Sublime! I had that with the set, and admittedly the miso soup was itself not worth a brag, but the sides were pleasant and the rose lemon water very refreshing (and nice to look at). I finished with the burnt cheesecake, which had a lovely texture - not too firm, not too soft, not too “cake-y.” They offer an eclectic mix of Asian fusion, particularly highlighting Japanese and Thai, as well as their native HK. They also do an extensive range of coffees and teas, as well as running a consignment shop of various homemade goods. In the midst of all the eclecticism is a very specific vision by the eponymous Anor and Ringo duo, and that intentionality comes through from the quirky design elements to the seemingly odd menu to the music playing overhead. It just works!
Great reception, the lady taking orders explains menu items with detail, and also made us felt very at home. Awesome hospitality; Dessert was impeccable as well. The most notable part for me was the interior design. Can see great thoughts have been put into wall colors, displayed items, and especially interior lighting. Really changes the mood and atmosphere, well worth the money. Seems like it usually is very popular, so come at 12:30 when they open to have the most dessert options (they sell out rather quickly) or make reservations.
Absolutely loved our experience at The Glock Edinburgh! The Japanese Tomato Salad was fresh and flavorful, while the River Tom Yum Spaghetti had the perfect spicy kick. For dessert, the Basque Burnt Cheesecake was rich and creamy, and the Genmaicha Fluffy Sponge Cake was light yet full of earthy tea goodness. The Hojicha and Genmaicha Lattes were the perfect cozy finish. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and made with care. Highly recommend—can’t wait to come back!
Tom yum spaghetti and Thai spaghetti were very creative and delicious however a little bit pricy because the portion was not that big. Matcha sponge cake was not too sweet and full of rich aroma, which I highly recommend.
The main dish is beautifully designed and delicious, the cake is adequately sweet and the coffee is good. I have been there numerous times and the restaurant could always deliver spectacular food with well mixed Western and Oriental elements. If you are in Edinburgh, and you want to have a taste of Hongkongese food, look no further, you will definitely appreciate what these young hearty Hongkongers can bring to the table, literally.
a little gathering with visiting 2 friends across oceans. This little, cosy place to eat was just a perfect place for us who like the Asian fusion of food such as the photos here. We tried early dinner ( 5pm to restaurant closing time 7:45pm, in 2025 summer). As the food seemingly often made from fresh ingredients, the staff were kind enough to let us know in advance which dishes still available and which not. A nice little dining experience for 4 of us. Thanks the chef and all behind the scenes.
Small place, but super cozy with a nice artsy vibe. The menu isn’t huge, but every dish we tried was top quality and really well-priced. We had the Thai-style clam pasta, Japanese curry rice with egg, and seafood ochazuke — you can really tell the chef puts a lot of heart into the food. The coffee was also fantastic. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. I accidentally knocked over my drink, and they cleaned it up right away — super polite about it — and even brought me a fresh one without any fuss. Truly top-notch service. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!
I haven't tried the food, but the cakes were okay and the coffees were well done, but the relatively small portion size of the beverages left more to be desired. It was a cozy environment though! Very chic, and has loads of buddhist/thai decor :)
